November 2010 to May 2011
Liz worked in collaboration with Lenka H Ryan, an artist and photographer based on Havelock Walk, for May 2011 Open Studios. The body-in-space formed the basis for their collaboration. Space is an empty amorphous void until given boundaries, until objects are placed within it, until people enter it. Bodies enter and move through, in, and with a space, turning the void into a place. Liz and Lenka cast body parts and body-prints, and took photographs in their collaboration exploring space. The installation simultaneously revealed the artists’ working process, and illustrated the set of collective images produced over several months. They aimed to communicate traces, both physical and emotional, capturing a presence that is lost but recalled momentarily. Their work was shown at 7/8 May and 13/ 14 May 2011 Havelock Walk Open Studios.
2010 - 2011
Liz has been working in collaboration with Dr Simon Park, Senior Lecturer in Molecular Biology from University of Surrey. Liz and Simon have experimented with growing bacterial cultures from the surface of hands and feet documenting their process through agar plates, photography and glue casts. They also created UV shrouds from the face.
2011
Liz will be collaborating with Gary Lambert, choreographer, on a site specific work surrounding Margate Lido alongside other visual artists including photographers, film makers and painters. The lido is slowly disintegrating into the sea, and it is this degradation that will be the focus of the work of this collective.
